All American Prospects Red Complete Improbable Comeback to win 2009 16U East Gold Medal

16U East Champs.JPGAlexander Fernandez doubled home Omar Garcia in the bottom of the 6th to put the All American Prospects Red ahead for the first time in the championship game after having spotted their oponent, Triple Threat Baseball Academy, a 9-0 lead in the first inning.  Fernandez would eventually come around to score and the Prospects would hang on for an 11-9 win at the blue quad at Roger Dean Stadium.

Albert Almora was 4-5 with a double, RBI, and 2 runs to compliment some stellar defensive plays in centerfield for the gold medalists.

In the Bronze Medal game, the Apopka Blacksox knocked off the Seattle Stars, 7-1.  Nicholas Molina notched the win, and his teammate Orlando Rivera, provided enough offense as he went 3-4 with 3 runs and 2 triples.

That wraps up a great week here in Florida.  Thanks to all the players, coaches, parents, and staff who helped make it so succesful.  Congrats to the All American Prospects organization on their second 16U Championship Gold in four years, and we hope to see everyone again next year.
